Driver line-up announcement, Kyalami 9 Hour, Intercontinental GT Challenge

21-23 November 2019

The 24 Hours of Spa winning drivers reunited at GPX Racing for the Kyalami 9 Hour!

The GPX Racing team will reunite the works Porsche drivers Kévin Estre, Michael Christensen and Richard Lietz for the Kyalami 9 Hour, the final round of the Intercontinental GT Challenge. The German manufacturer is in the running for the title and is counting on the 911 GT3 R in Gulf colors, victorious at the 24 Hours of Spa, to help it achieve this prestigious aim.

The GPX Racing team‘s adventure at Spa is still fresh in everybody’s mind. The team’s participation with the support of Porsche, in particular the three works drivers all FIA WEC title holders, ended in a resounding victory on their first attempt in the Belgian classic.

“Above all, we‘re very satisfied to see Porsche renewing its trust in us,” says a delighted Pierre-Brice Mena, the squad’s team principal. “Now that we’ve won at Spa it’s clear that everybody will be gunning for us. But it’s a big plus to have Richard, Michael, and Kévin back again after what we lived through together in Belgium; and it’s also a big time saver in several areas like the setups, the automatisms and the communication in the car. It’s up to us to do it again and we’re going to do our utmost to fight at the front. And last but not least, the fact of being involved in Kyalami’s return to the international scene is also a great honor for the whole team.”

The 9 Hours of Kyalami will take place on 21-23 November on the circuit that hosted 20 South African Formula 1 Grands Prix between 1967 and 1993.
